I felt the students needed an engineering project. During this time we were learning about area in math. We were bored, I was bored. I thought one night, I should challenge the students by giving them a real world problem. Give them an overall area, in which they needed to build a road with the correct dimensions. Ah, ha! Math! But even better I thought, let’s have them build bridges…..engineering! And then of course….what drives over bridges? Cars…..but that’s too boring. I asked students what would “drive” over a road in the future? Robots!!!!! Once the students created their bridge, they tested it and programmed a Sphero to drive over it. Computational Thinking!
